LG 26LD350 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV Review

After returning 3 HDTVs (Samsung, Sharp and Sanyo) I’m sooooo happy with this one. A perfect picture and great sound. I barely have to raise the sound to hear it, which is a problem with many other HDTVs. There’s no distortion of the images and the color is perfect. I was almost going to buy a 22-inch model, but it looked small in the store, so I went for the 26-inch and I’m glad I did. A good size if you’re about 10′ away from the set. The on-screen menu is a little difficult to figure out … but once you get the hang of it … it’s ok. A definate buy at a very good price. Also, it’s always good dealing with Amazon – trustworthy, efficient, competitive pricing and good quality products.

Although I’ve had this only a few days, it works just great! I’m particularly impressed by the quality of the product, given that the purchase price was so low (Under 0 including the added cost of shipping). Since I am not an electronics technician, I cannot judge the efficiency of all its featured attributes. I observed only one minor negative: The manual was not well translated. From this, I surmize that not many of these have been shipped abroad. But the translation, although difficult to read, does discribe adequately its saliant features.

Great set, shakey service – Spartan Child –
This TV has an amazing picture from every source that I have hooked up to it (Comcast HD, XBox 360, PS3 & Blu Ray). That’s the end of the good news.

The customer service folks from LG are not all that helpful and you’ll get transfered a few times before getting to the TV Warrany people. I spent 55 minutes on the phone during my last experience, the majority of that time was spent listening to elevator music, waiting to get an appointment with one of their authorized repair goons. My Amazing picture has been amazingly broken for 37 days now … they’ve made two attempts to fix it and both failed (well, actually, one succeeded for about 4 hours), the remainder of that 37 days has been spent waiting on backorder parts and rescheduling appointments.

Hopefully yours will not break down because LG, although they claim to be the greatest company since sliced peanut butter, do not blink at allowing a customer to sit with a broken product for over a month during the holidays. I purchased two LCD TV’s for Christmas and you can bet your sweet rear that they do not have an “LG” label on them.

Did I already mention that it looked great while it worked (almost a whole year).

I have been holding off on a flat screen for awhile. I already had a HD Tv but it was only 30″. I wanted a deal and decent specs. So I searched and searched and this was it for me. I purchased and received this beauty faster then the estimated time. I watched Blu ray’s on my PS3 with my wife and smiled like a little kid on christmas morning. Shortly thereafter I noticed quirks. My wife says I’m anal but notices these discrepencies as well. Just not as much as myself. 240 HZ makes a visual effect as if there is no auto balance to a camera man’s hold when recording. So it feels as if you are recording the movie live and every little bounce and pause is noticed. I don’t like it and my wife get’s a bit queezy . so we turn 240 off or low more so then not. One more thing (again due to me being anal) I’ve noticed 3 grey lines going horizontally on the screen. Only on light panning backgrounds. Besides these complaints I’d give a 4.5/5 I really do love this TV just could do without the quirks.

I looked at a lot of others before finally settling on this one, mostly due to the great price for all the features and free financing that were offered. I barely know what all the features described meant but I am extremely happy with the TV. I just have this hooked up to my cable box and Blu Ray player. no surround sound, receiver or anything else like that. The picture is AMAZING. You almost feel like you’re right in the middle of the story. And it took me all of 2 minutes to hook it up to everything. It could not have been any easier! Like with my old flat screen, the sound does have to be turned up pretty high sometimes, but my friends tell me that can be solved by getting hi def speakers. I doubt I’ll go that way because it doesn’t really bother me. This is a great product and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

This is our first flat screen ever. 20 years with a 27″ console never prepared us for the spectacular experience of a 47″ LCD. The colors, the details, the blacks and the lack of blur in high speed actions are all awsome on our LG 47LH55,47-Inch,1080p,240Hz,LCD HDTV.The set’s speaker sound is just Ok but we’ve hooked up to our stereo receiver and surround speakers so we’re most happy now.

The sceen is viewable from a wide angle and the matte screen eliminates most reflections in our sunlite great room ( the “gloss black” referred to in the product description is actually the frame around the screen which is not a problem). I spent more than a few hours researching brands and prices and in the end I think I got the best deal for what I was after. Watch the time of year you buy as diminishing inventories and newer models often create great deals. (we paid 99 in March 2010 )

Arrived quickly, assembled (incredibly) easily. Works wonderfully.

Any problems or horror stories that I had heard regarding the purchase, transport, assembly or use of big screen TVs vanished subsequent to this purchase.

The screws holding the base on are a bit tricky to handle unless you use either a magnetic screwdriver or one that otherwise grips the screw heads for insertion. No big deal though.

Whatever you’re doing, keep it up!

LG 32LD450 32-Inch 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV Review

After comparison shopping for a LCD set to replace my current Sharp Aquos LC20D42U (also reviewed), I settled on this TV.

I’m not going to write a book – but the following are my initial impressions.

Given that my outgoing Sharp display had only 1 HDMI input, the LG’s 2 inputs are acceptable for my needs (HD cable/DVR & PS3) but for others with more peripherals (stand alone Blu-Ray, DVD, multiple gaming consoles, etc), 2 HDMI inputs may not be enough. The set also has a component input (probably acceptable for use w/ a non-upscaling DVD player).

Unboxing the TV in my living room, I cranked all my lights to check for blemishes / defects. While the TV was in good condition, both the screen and the glossy black bezel had hand/finger prints in multiple locations. I’m not sure if this happened at the factory (made in Mexico) or if I got a unit that had been previously unboxed (manuals, remote, stand were all still in sealed plastic – so I’m guessing factory), but it was a little unsettling, even at this price point. It took me a few extra minutes to wet a cloth and clean the TV before setting it up.

The glossy black bezel is unremarkable – it doesn’t look bad, but it does look (and feel) a little cheap. This is not a TV I would mount or place conspicuously – especially among high quality peripherals, audio equipment or as the anchor of an expensive entertainment center (of course it’s doubtful that a 32″ TV would typically form the center of an expensive piece of furniture like that).

After setting the TV up, I obviously turned it on. I was not immediately impressed. Like most new TV’s, this one is pre-programmed to default to wild backlight / brightness / color settings (with the aim of display sets not washing out under bright store lights, I presume). After spending some time tuning the picture, I was able to achieve settings that were to my liking. The tuned picture is fairly impressive at this price point – solid processing, even backlighting, good black levels for a CCFL-backlit TV, and fairly accurate color although off-angle viewing could be better. Speaking of tuning, the menu / interface is very simple and very easy to use – both because of good menu design and also because there are not a whole lot of features on this set to be configured.

Which brings me to features – this is not among the next generation of LCD TV’s; it has no LED backlight, it is not 120hz, it is not thinner than a strand of hair, it does not connect wirelessly or offer widgets or video streaming, and it is not 3D compatible (a feature I sincerely hope does not catch on for cinema or television – who wants to wear 3D glasses all evening?).

But if you don’t want to spend a lot, don’t need the TV to be a conversation piece while it is turned off, don’t need to the TV to perform functions that your other devices would likely make redundant, and are looking primarily for decent quality picture and good value – then I’d recommend this TV to you.

I have had this TV for about 2 months and really am enjoying it. It has a great picture and color clarity. Works well with DVD, VHS, blu-ray/ PS3, wii, and a computer hooked up. I have all of this hooked up constantly and there were plenty of different types of ports to make it all work. The only negative is the menu system. For some things you have to go through 3 or 4 screens to get to the setting that you want. Not a huge deal, but it could be better.
